Plant-Based Shopping List

Many of my customers ask me how do you get started with a plant based diet. I think it all starts with having a good shopping list, so you can stock your kitchen properly.

Beef Substitute:

Gardein

-Beef Crumbles-Make like taco meat but add 1Tbsp of vegetable oil

-Beef tips- Put tips in oven to dehydrate, make some ranchero or bourguignon sauce. Drop dried beef tips and get ready for the ride!!

-Meatballs- cook in 50/50 marinara and water on low flame until dehydrates, re-hydrate with water again,               when dehydrates again, they’re ready to eat. I suggest taking meatballs out and put in with fresh marinara

-BBQ Pockets- I love these with pico and Jalapeños

-Field Roast Chipotle sausage or Soy Chorizo (Trader Joe’s) great with tofu scramble

-Field Roast Italian Sausage for Italian pasta dishes

-Smart Dogs for Hot Dog alternative-Not bad

-Beyond burger- Grill’em baby!!

-Impossible Burger- Cook them anyway you would use ground beef

 

 

Seafood:

-Gardein Fish Filets- Buy a vegan chipotle ranch and make fish tacos or do fish and chips

-Gardein Crabcakes

-Sophie’s Kitchen 

-May Wah has many options available in Asian markets or on-line. On-line is my preference and the scallops are amazing!!

-Many recipes on line using mushrooms for scallop options

 

 

Chicken Substitutes:

Literally blend spices into chicken breast with Blacken spice, or salt and pepper, or curry powder, or chipotle spice, or cumin and garlic

-Gardein Chicken Strips

Season with Blacken spice, or salt and pepper, or curry powder, or chipotle spice, or cumin and garlic and sauté  

 

Vegan Cheeses:

Chao Cheese slices- Great for Grill cheese sandwiches

Follow Your Heart- Not “Vegan Gourmet” Follow Your Heart

Miyoko’s- This is an artisanal vegan cheese maker. Internationally acclaimed and offers a quality product

 

Of course, MY CHEESE is also for sale!! 

 

Vegan Cream Cheese:

Tofutti “Yellow” container is good. Tofutti offers many flavors

Miyoko’s is rich and creamy. Has Lox or scallion flavored cream cheese

Treeline French style cheese spreads, if you can find it, buy it!!

RIGATONI FRA DIAVOLO

1 Serving  Prep Time: 10 min  Cook time: 4 min

INGREDIENTS

·     2 Tbsp olive oil

·     2 oz pepper/onion blend

·     6 oz Field Roast Italian Sausage

·     6 oz hot marinara

·     ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

·     6 oz cooked pasta

·     Pesto

·     Vegan parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS

·      Add olive oil to sauté pan

·      Add pepper/onion blend, cook one minute

·      Add Italian sausage, cook 1 minute

·      Add hot marinara

·     Add pepper flakes

·     Drizzle with pesto

·     Shake of parmesan cheese

Vegan Mayonaise

1 QUART MAYONAISE

Servings: 32oz. | Prep Time: 5 min | Total Time: 10min

INGREDIENTS

·     1 cup Soy milk

·     3 Tbsp lemon juice

·     1 ½ c blended oil (less/more depending on your texture preference)

·     1/4 tsp mustard powder

·     ¼ tsp black salt

·     ¼ tsp salt

·      pinch of white pepper

 DIRECTIONS

blend in food processor until smooth
